The Bakersfield palm root slab from California, is of exceptional quality and was unpacked recently from old stock purchased many years ago.  The palm root slab is very solid with high contrast and is an rare excellent specimen with just a few areas not completely solid. To polish as a sample slab, use Opticon, a type of adhesive which seals and gives structural strength for pits, etc.  Not sure if you can see the wonderful replacement characteristics showing in the root tube eyes, but this quality and fine detail of replacement is rare.  There is only one Bakersfield palm root slab, and it measures 10" x 5 1/2" and is 1/4" thick. Palm root is from the root ball of a palm tree which has been fossilized and or petrified and the root tubes have been replaced with silica.
