Carved Jade Knife
Carved jade knife by Tony Civitell
$ 0.00

Tony Civitell of California is our Shop Friend Contest winner for March 2008 with his beautiful jade knife.  Tony carved his knife with a Foredom tool and posted the instructions on the Rock Tumbling Hobby web site.  To get lapidary tips on carving something similar go to: http://andy321.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=22183

Tony says he has wanted to make this knife for a while, a Big Sur blue dive blade. "I need some protection during dives and what better to stab a white shark with nephrite jade, right?? I decided to ditch the grinder this time and try one useing a Foredom tool. I used different diamond bits, hand files and hard felt bobs for polishing. This way takes a lot longer and I have a lot more to learn on carving, but here is my first one."

Congratulations Tony and thank you for sending the detailed instructions on how to carve a jade knife!  As you stated, "It's awesome to see what others make from rocks!"
