Shop Friend Contest Winner for June 2008 is John Randolph of Missouri.   It is always fun to see how others use their rocks, whether it's in garden ponds or benches, jewelry, or items for the home.  John wrote the following: "A friend suggested I send this in.  My name is John Randolph and we live in Jefferson City, Missouri.  I made this for my son, Peyton, as he loves Dolphins and his third birthday was in April.  Some of the stone used is Petrified Wood and Mexican Crazy Lace.  I started with a picture, cut the paper into sections, then traced those on to slabs.  I shaped them with a trim saw, diamond wheel, and a Dremel with diamond burs.  These pieces were tumbled in a rotary tumbler, but did not stay in the course grit very long.  I used a router and hand carving tools to do the inlay.  Thanks for looking!" Congratulations John and thank you for the entry!  We appreciate the lapidary tips on how your project was completed.  The project plans seem simple with few tools required and you have a treasured keepsake for your son.
