Shannon sent in the following information about their entry: "Wire wrapping has become an immensely popular jewelry style. However, we have had a number of individuals tell us that many are too frilly, overdone and detract attention from the stone itself. The "Prong Wrap" was our solution for individuals that desire simplicity in their jewelry or those that want the cabochon to command all of the attention rather then the wire surround it This particular agate pendant contains a cabochon polished by Dennis that was then prong wrapped by myself using twisted 20 gauge half-hard square sterling silver wire. In addition, the bail has been virtually hidden for a more streamlined look. This was a Christmas gift for our 14 year-old daughter who loves giraffes. We thought the pattern resembled her favorite animal. For those wanting to try this style, half-hard wire is more appropriate than dead-soft as it provides the necessary hardness that the prongs need. It results in a very stable pendant."
